Polis established the North American Religion Atlas (NARA) in 2001 as one of the first web-based GIS sites for the humanities. The Digital Atlas of American Religion expands NARA’s capabilities with new research and tools that allow scholars to explore complex data using traditional and advanced methods.
NARA produced an eight-part curriculum aimed to restore religion as a viable component of the larger study of national, state, and local histories. The curriculum is divided into time periods spanning from 1800-2000 and covering several themes at the national, state, and local levels.
